We hire more than 70 UW Oshkosh students each semester to work as teacher assistants in our nine classrooms. While we prefer to hire students who have a federal work-study allocation, it is not an employment requirement.
Our hours are 7 a.m. through 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Most of our students work anywhere from five to twenty hours per week.
If you have a passion for working with young children and are interested in a fun job with great learning experiences, print a student employment application and drop it off at the Center in Lincoln Hall. Please note that only UW Oshkosh students can apply for student employment positions within our Center.
We hire UW Oshkosh Work Study students and freshman, sophomore, junior, senior or graduate students of any major who are in good standing and have a minimum GPA of 2.0.
If you are interested in applying for a Teacher Assistant Position, you must have completed or be enrolled in: for credit; Educational Foundations 235 or Students with Disabilities in General Education 352, Correspondence courses; Introduction to the Childcare Profession or Skills and Strategies for the Childcare Teacher. Students working with children under the age of two must also complete the correspondence course, Fundamentals of Infant and Toddler Care. The Center has easy access to the required correspondence courses and will help cover the cost of these correspondence courses.
Applicants must complete Infant and Child CPR, First Aid and AED training. Training opportunities for CPR, First Aid and AED are available through the Center.
Per Wisconsin State Licensing all childcare employees are required to be fingerprinted and have a yearly criminal background check.
Responsibilities include basic nurturing and care of children. Individual tasks vary based on the classroom to which you are assigned.
